Why are dynamic fonts better than bitmap images?
Dynamic fonts have many advantages over using bitmap images for text:
  1. Dynamic fonts are smaller than bitmap images. A GIF file can take up several kilobytes of data for only a couple of words. The dynamic font file for the same text is typically just a few kilobytes--and you can use the font data in that file with all the words on your page.
  2. Dynamic fonts are fully scaleable to any size or resolution. This lets you resize the fonts on the screen to your personal preference, and results in greatly improved printing.
  3. Most importantly, dynamic fonts retain the text. This means you can search through and index the text in dynamic font documents. Their content can be cut and pasted into other applications. And text-only browsers (becoming common once again in PDAs) receive the entire contents of the document.
