Media Streaming
What is meant by a Streaming Server?
A web server stores web pages or HTML files. Streaming media files normally reside on a separate dedicated streaming server. A streaming server is a web hosting server with a specialized piece of software that has the ability to adjust the data rate as it is sent and controls the streaming of the video itself. This is referred to as "true" streaming media and is rather expensive to do, especially for hosting large video files. For small websites you can use
pseudo streaming (HTTP Streaming / progressive downloading). HTTP Pseudostreaming does not work by default on any webserver. A serverside module is needed to enable it. This is enabled in our media server.
