Creating Password Protected directories
Step. 1. Log in into your cPanel and scroll down to 'Security' Section. Click on 'Password Protect Directories'
Step. 2. Directory selection window appears. From this select the root of the folder.
Step. 3. A list of the directories on your account will appear. Select the directory in which you wish to protect with a password.
Step. 4. Select the 'Password protect this directory' check box, Assign a name to the password protected directory.(2) (This is the name visitors will see. It can appear as anything, no matter what the directory is called.). Finally click on 'Save' button (3)
Step. 5. Now create a user and password using the Create User section of this interface. Enter the username (1), and password (2) in the appropriate boxes. Click on 'Add/modify authorized user' button (3).
Note: The new user's name will be added to the listbox under the Authorized Users heading.
